Goals are the key as Spurs and Man City look to upset the big four
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  18 Aug 2009
Sitting proudly in top spot with a goal difference of +5, Arsenal will undoubtedly be delighted with the way in which the opening weekend of the Barclay’s Premier League panned out. For Chelsea, Manchester United and most of all, Liverpool, however, day one didn’t prove to be quite so rosy.   0

Beckham the true patriot deserves better
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  22 Jul 2009
I have an enormous amount of respect for David Beckham. Despite the fragrances, the pop star wife and the sponsorship deals, all he’s ever wanted to do is play football at the highest level.   6

Ibrahimovic or Eto'o? The £50m question
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  17 Jul 2009
Samuel Eto'o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Two world class strikers, separated by just a single year in age, but rarely have two forwards been less alike in playing style.   2

Danny Haynes: prima donna or star in the making?
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  14 Jul 2009
Genuine pace is a real asset in any division, so it was somewhat surprising to see perennial impact substitute Danny Haynes swap Ipswich for Bristol City this week. At a mere £400,000 will the player prove a snip, with the change of scenery proving to be the launch pad for the young attacker who showed such promise when he burst into the Ipswich first team, or will his career continue to stagnate as it has done in the past year? Six Plus Five has the views of Ipswich season ticket holder Nick Woolnough and Bristol City season ticket holder Doug Stewart on a transfer that has divided opinion amongst both sets of fans.   0

Tilson is wrong to snub the subs

Those who disagree with common consensus can often be left feeling rather foolish. While everyone is free to speak their mind, there comes a point when disagreeing with something that has been embraced and accepted by so many can seem rather odd.   0

Horny South Africans could be a World Cup turn off
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  19 Jun 2009
Many of the concerns that were expressed when the World Cup was awarded to South Africa have already been allayed in the first week of a dramatic Confederations Cup. The facilities seem up to scratch, there have been no major travel issues and the local people have taken to the warm-up tournament with great enthusiasm.   3
Huddersfield Town
Two pairs of Clarks for ambitious Huddersfield
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  16 Jun 2009
Rarely can a club boast that they are a shoe-in for promotion, but with defenders Tom, Nathan and Peter Clarke, not to mention manager Lee Clark, all at the Galpharm, perhaps Huddersfield have one foot in the Championship. Dreadful footwear-related puns aside, the Galpharm will become a much-feared venue for opposing sides next season as manager Lee Clark sets about building a promotion winning side in his first full season at the club.   0

The channel that nobody really wanted or needed appears to be on its last legs. Good riddance to bad rubbish? For the fans, perhaps.   6

Champions League chumps
AuthorNameNick Woolnough   |  08 Jun 2009
Seeing Anderson and Carrick being schooled by Spanish masters Xavi and Iniesta the other week got me thinking. It was an undoubtedly poor performance from United and man for man they simply didn’t match up to the Catalan giants.   3
Notts County
Magpies set for cash boost (that’s Notts County, not you Newcastle)

Everyone loves the Premiership. England’s top league has the wow factor – big names, bigger games, a hectic tempo and passionate fans.   1
